Vendors, Duluth MN

I recently traveled to Duluth, MN for thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family. While it is very cold (10 degrees or lower while we were up there) and snowy (it isn't snowy in Madison at all right now) it is a very beautiful and inspiring city. I managed to find a couple vendor candidates for my series. Both operations were closed (most likely for the season), but I have not yet seen a food cart in the shape of a boat, and the other artfully seemed to resemble the architecture of an old-fashioned railroad station. Unlike most of the vendors I have photographed, these were more permanent structures.

I also managed to capture this interesting image of a partially sunken, abandoned building near our hotel on the shoreline of the Canal Park area of the city. It was once in business for transport for grain (I believe), but when the mining industries took over, it went out of business and this is all that is left behind. This image is perhaps reminiscent of my Spaces for Lease series, but contains a vernacular aspect of Duluth and its history.

Stay tuned for more art yet to come, the Vendors series' productivity might be somewhat slowed by the season, but other shoots are scheduled, so keep checking back!

New Paintings

These paintings were created for personal reasons, one was created for someone else and one is for myself. The green image is of an abstracted bobcat. The other image (also feline!) is of a cat of mine that passed away around 3 years ago, so this is my way of paying tribute to her. I'm working on more paintings, currently of another cat that belonged to my family that passed away at the ripe old age of 17 in 2004.

Also, expect another blog post within the next two days! I went to Duluth, MN and found some images up there :)

Jessica | Wisconsin Boudoir Photography

What is Boudoir?
boudoir (ˈbuːdwɑː, -dwɔː)

— n
a woman's bedroom or private sitting room

[C18: from French, literally: room for sulking in, from bouder to sulk]

What is Boudoir Photography?
It is a genre of photography that is a very sensual and personal form of art in which a woman expresses her inner and outer beauty regardless of how big or small, wide or thin, and vice versa. The purpose of boudoir photography--essentially---is to make women look good and give them a boost of self-esteem in a setting that can often be (but doesn't have to be) revealing. Is this pornography? NO. Not by any means. Some photos can be more revealing, but often they are simply tasteful which brings about the purpose behind the photography. Because it is highly personal, boudoir is often a gift for a lover.

This shoot was something that I never ventured to do before, and am not sure what this means for the future of my business. But Jessie and I had a lot of fun with this shoot--she really got to be her own dorky self! And really, that's what these photos are--her in her element, thinking about the one she loves most! Any questions, feel free to ask. :)

PS: As of today, Emily Bee Arts has full software editing capabilities once again!!! So you can be sure to see more updates here and there! I have a couple of engagement shoots booked, as well as some other projects coming about, so be sure and stay tuned!!!
